Sakura walk in Kawagoe
This year the cherry blossoms came very early, and have been plagued by a lot of rainy days. Yesterday fortunately, the weather was supposed to be cloudy, but quickly turned into a beautiful sunny day. I dropped the kids at school and changed my plans for the day, jumping in the first express train for Kawagoe. This short walk along the Shingashi river, right behind the beautiful Hikawa jinja in Kawagoe is considered a classic, which I never had the opportunity to enjoy.
I expected something painfully crowded, but no. There were people, for sure, but far fewer than in popular hanami spots in Tokyo. If you’ve never been there, you should definitely consider spending a few hours there.
