Rikugien, an oasis of nature in Bunko-ku
Tokyo is huge, and ugly too (but utterly clean, which makes it easier to bear). Architecture and aesthetic concerns are basically nonexistent except in some very specific areas, like Marunouchi. But all around the city you’ll find beautiful parks, extremely well maintained. These natural oasis are very popular in spring for the cherry blossoms, and in autumn to enjoy the “koyo”, when the leaves turn red and yellow. Rikugien is one of those beautiful and popular places in autumn. So popular that you may even have to line up a little bit… something Japanese people seem to be really mastering.
