Sunset and Mt Fuji at Morito beach

I guess we all have our “feel good” place. For me it’s Morito beach. Located in Kanagawa prefecture, Morito is mostly out of reach of conventional tourists. The nearest train station is Zushi, from which you need to take a bus to reach the beach; not really convenient. Coming by car is the only easy option, which makes this part of the Kanagawa coastline easier for locals. Tourists usually go to Enoshima and Kamakura, two beautiful destinations… which often feel like a train station at rush hour.

Morito is the exact opposite. Smaller, nicer, it even has a BBQ area right on the beach. But the best part is undoubtedly those incredible sunsets featuring the gorgeous Fujisan and Enoshima island. And if you walk just a few minutes to Shin-Nase beach, you may even add a very nice torii in the picture since, next to the beach lies Morito Daimiyojin, a beautiful temple with a red torii built on a rock formation, in the sea.
